Marriage in Rajasthan is considered as a big ceremony for a bride and groom same as it carved in Hindu and other religions. As traditions and culture in Rajasthan is dedicately followed in Rajasthan, Wedding ceremony also witness some colourful customs and practices.

Rajasthan is known as a romantic land and its charm also shown in wedding ceremonies. In a middle class families, Groom dressed in a traditional sherwani with a colourfull turban and a sword in hand. Groom look like a King take a marraige procession having all hs best men and relatives to the Bride house. This procession is famous called as ‘Baraat’ in local language.

Bride dressed in colourful lehanga, full of jewellery on the body and decorated palm with mehendi awaits the groom. Wedding procession is greeted by family of the bride at their gates and welcome them with garland of flowers. At the bride house, various feasts and entertaining programmes are arrange by bride families for the guests.

Wedding rituals starts by Aarti ceremony first and then groom and bride exchange wedding garlands symbolically called ‘Jaimal’ or ‘Varmala’. Then both move to the decorated Mandap where rituals like ‘Saat Phere’ taken round the scared fire along with the mantra enchanting by priests. After that bride starts to move out from maternal home which is known as ‘Bidai’ ceremony and the most heart touching moment. Groom with bride then leave for the groom house.
