Mayo College is home to the Danial Mathur Museum housed in Jhalawar House, which it shares with the Arts School. The museum showcases priceless antiques and an armory section. It is considered to have one of the best collections of any school museum in the world. The magnificent collection of rare objects in the Museum has always attracted many eminent personalities from all over the world. It is very unique that all the items housed in the Museum have been donated by Old Boys, Parents and other well-wishers.
Mayo College in Ajmer is one of the top boarding schools of India which was founded in 1875 by Richard Bourke, 6th Earl of Mayo who was the Viceroy of India from 1869 to 1872. The school was founded for the sons of the Indian upper classes, particularly the princes and nobles of Rajputana.
The College Museum is spread over 18 rooms. There is a rich and valuable collection of old paintings, Sculptures, Photographs, Coins, Natural History Section, Stuffed birds and Butterflies.
