City Palace Museum also called Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II Museum is the house of rare and exquisite scriptures of Hindu from the primitive period of India. This museum comes under City Palace of Jaipur. It is located in Diwan-I-Aam which is an inbuilt public hall of the palace. Most of the scriptures in the museum were written by hands. Out of all scriptures, the miniature Bhagwat Gita is the most significant one. It has the specialty that it was written in a way to protect this legacy from the onslaught of Mughal king Aurangzeb on holy religious scriptures.

Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II Museum

Other than Bhagwat Gita, there are many delicate miniature paintings of Rajasthani, Mughal and Persian can be seen in the museum. Museum has many popular themes like Ramayana, elephant saddles, painted ceilings and contains big and beautiful chandeliers. Chandeliers are displayed only on special occasions as a protection from dust.

There are also beautiful marbles path in the museum which can lures anyone eyes. Museum also contains shining silvery of two mammoth silver vessels. These are known to be the largest in the world. These superior vessels are possessed by King Sawai Madho Singh II and used to drink river ganga water by him.possessed these vessels.

Till now royal family still lives in a part of the museum. This professionally managed museum also has a wonderful peacock which is placed in the courtyard.

The entry ticket entitles only four courtyards of City Palace Premises that tourist can visit including Mubarak Mahal, Sarvatobhadra, Pritam Niwas Chowk, Buggikhana.Entry ticket also allows visitor to see exhibits in 4 galleries that includes Textile Gallery, Armoury, Sabha Niwas, Buggi Khana

Royal Grandeur Tour

Separate tour will be arranged known as “Royal Grandeur Tour” for the tourists who wants to visit inner quarters of the Chandra Mahal apart from the usual visitor areas.
