Alwar is a district of Rajasthan that used to be called as the princely state of Alwar. The city was founded by the king of Amer and ruled by the Kushwaha Rajputs for a long time. The palace is built on the banks of the Siliserh Lake which is an artificial lake that was made by King Vinay Singh in the year 1845 and it was built to improve water resource in Alwar, India by the king. And the palace was built for his beloved wife.

The City Palace of Alwar which is also known with the second name of Vinay Vilas Mahal was built by Raja Bakhtawar Singh in the year 1793 A.D. The palace is a stunning example of Rajasthani and Mughal styled architecture and it has elegant pavilions made of marble set on lotus flower bases in the central yard.
