Luxurious ride in the Palace of wheels with salons decorated in the heritage style shows the culture of Rajasthan and royalness of Maharajas of the past. The Palace on Wheels is operated by Rajasthan Tourism Development corporation RTDC.

History of Palace on Wheels

On 26 January 1982, Palace on Wheels made its first journey. Earlier the coaches of the Palace on Wheels were used as personal railway coaces of the erstwhile rulers of the princely states of Rajputana, Gujarat, the Nzam of Hydrabad and the Viceroy of British India. PATA Gold Award was given in 1987 to the Palace on Wheels tour.

Palace on Wheels Coaches

Palace on Wheels has 14 guest coaches, decorated interiors designed by Delhi based designer Monica Khanna. It also has 2 restaurant cum kitchen car, bar cum lounge, 4 service cars, library also. TV, AC, attached bathrooms, internet connection and channel music are some facilites in each cabin.

  • 50% of the prevailing tariff will be charged for the children between 05-12 years of age
  • 10% of the prevailing tariff will be charged for the children below 05 years.

Terms and Condition :

  • Service Tax will be charged extra as applicable.
  • Commercial tax US$ 15 per person extra as applicable.
  • There will be a 10% surcharge levied on the tariff for the trips falling during Christmas (18th December) and New Year (25th December)
  • The above tariff and itineary is subject to revise without prior notice.
  • Tariff is inclusive of cost of travel and accommodation, catering, bottled mineral water (morning tea, breakfast, lunch, evening tea and dinner), conducted sightseeing tours in deluxe coaches, entrance fee for monuments and palaces and cultural entertainment. Tariff does not include liquor, laundry, video cameras and other items of personal nature.
  • Charter can be booked in advance during X-mas & New Year period subject to 100% advance deposit with the additional 10% of the tariff at the time of booking during booking season.
  • Booking is as per first come first serve, since the seats are limited kindly book in advance.
  • The tariff shall be fixed and announced from time to time and can be changed without any prior notice.

Inclusions/Exclusions

Palace on Wheels Tariff includes the following:

Travel, catering, conducted sightseeing, entrance fee at monuments/parks/palaces, cultural programs, camel ride at Jaisalmer, boat ride at Udaipur and rickshaw ride at Bharatpur.

Palace on Wheels Tariff does not include:

Drinks, tips, laundry, telephone calls, video camera fees, business car facilities, liquor and other items of personal nature.

Booking Policy

  • For the fully independent travelers (FITs)
    • 20% of the tariff at the time of the confirmation of the booking.
    • Remaining 80% of the tariff needs to be paid 60 days prior to departure.
  • For group tours
    • 20% of the tariff while confirming the booking.
    • Remaining 80% of the tariff 75 days prior to the journey.

Cancellation Policy

  • 5% of ticket value 60 days or more prior to departure.
  • 20% of ticket value between 59 to 16 days prior to departure.
  • 100% of ticket value 15 days prior to departure.
