Royal History Behind Jodhpur Airport

Present Jodhpur airport was previous known as Jodhpur Flying Club which was setup in 1920 by Maharaja Umaid Singh. At that time it was near his Chittar Palace in Jodhpur. During world war II , this flying club used as an airfield for the Royal Air Force(RAF). Later in 1950 Royal India Air Force or present Indian Air Force upgraded it and runs it as Air Force Flying College till 1965 war.

Jodhpur Air Base : Jodhpur air base actively participate in Kargil war of 1999 and aircrafts like Mig-27s, Mig-29s,su-30 mki and Mig-25s are used by IAF.
