The Kapil Muni Fair is the largest fair of Bikaner district held on Kartik Poornima at Kolayat which is originally known as Kapilayatan and named after the sage Kapil who is believed to have done meditation here for the welfare of mankind.

The venue of the fair in Kolayat. It is located approximately 50 km to the southwest of Bikaner.

On the day of Kapil Muni Fair, people float lighted lamps in the sacred lake. Such a ritual is called ‘Deepmalika’. It leads to a fabulous sight creation. Various offerings are made at the temples.

Songs extolling the virtues of Kapil Muni are sung ardently by the devotees. A cattle fair is held in this Kapil Muni Fair.

A large number of buffaloes, camels, horses, and cattle are sold. Certificates and prizes are given away to the best breeders at the fair.

Kolayat has good connectivity by road and rail through Bikaner, Rajasthan. Regular buses from Bikaner (50 kms) are available.
